“Where do we go for a casual lobster dinner "in the rough" in Rockland?"
The answer is Claws ! - Welcome to our 4th season
2016 Maine Lobsterpalooza Lobster Mac 'n Cheese Professional Chef - First Place & 2016 Maine Lobsterpalooza People's Choice Award
Nestled in the Lobster Capital of the World - Rockland Maine - and perched on the northwestern edge of the harbor, Claws offers only the freshest seafood available sourced from local fishermen. With lobsters & crabs from Penobscot Bay, scallops from Vinyl Haven and clams from the Saint George, your taste buds will hum with glee from the sweet briny flavors.
We are proud to be Rockland’s only casual lobster eatery, with an expansive deck overlooking Rockland Harbor. During inclement weather, you can dine under our “lobster tail” - Our patio is now fully enclosed and heated! On warm days, we simply roll up the windows so you can enjoy the fresh salt air while you dine.
Why is our seafood so amazing? One reason is that “there is just something in the water up here”. Time and time again we hear our customers say “We have never had sweeter lobster anywhere” and “These clams are so sweet they are like candy”, and “This crabmeat is so amazing - it should be illegal!”
Our lobsters come to us directly off the boats each day. You cannot get a lobster any fresher even if you hauled them in yourself!
Our Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese just took first place at Maine Lobsterpalooza’s Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese Contest and is prepared like nothing you have had anywhere else.
It’s been decreed by many (including the judges) as the best they have ever tasted. Each dish is sautéed to order, not “hot held” in a pan for hours and we only use fresh lobster meat – never frozen. The same goes for our savory crab cakes – so tasty and full of freshly picked crab meat! You definitely will want to take some home with you (and you can!).
More reasons our seafood is unbeatable here at Claws
We pride ourselves in serving food that our Mom and our Nana, natives who have relied on our family’s cookbooks passed down through the generations, would be proud of. Like lobster rolls with nothing but a touch of Hellmann’s and a perfectly toasted New England-style hot dog bun (the way it has been done in Rockland for the millennia). Like freshly-picked crabmeat rolls filled so full, they literally roll and the sweet meat will send you over right over the edge. Steamers, oh… the steamers…so sweet and tender, they will melt in your mouth. Now you’re drooling, right?
Our fried seafood is hand-breaded with our delicious secret coating
Our homemade seafood chowder is full of seafood – not potatoes. Even our sauces are made here with our own recipes. From our Maine blueberry vinaigrette to our zesty tartar sauce with capers and fresh dill, you will be delighted. Our cocktail sauce is made with fresh horseradish, lemon and Old Bay and our maple mustard sauce is made with real Maine maple syrup.

When you dine at Claws, you are “dining in the rough."
No one wants to attempt to eat a lobster wearing a suit with fine china!
While you enjoy dining on our expansive deck, you’ll soak up the views not only of beautiful Rockland Harbor, but you’ll also experience a unique view of the sea side of Main Street and the Apprentice Shop’s sailing school next door.
Drop by for a late lunch and you’ll see the island ferries make their way in and out of the harbor.
This is serious business, so roll up your sleeves, grab a picnic table and prepare for a true Maine experience that you will savor again and again.
